Queenstown
The spectacular scenery of this region has made Queenstown famous throughout the world and also New Zealand's premier tourist destination. Within a very short distance of each other are mountains, lakes, forests, wild rivers, historic sites, and walking tracks meaning tourists can do and see so much in a very short time.
Known as the "Adventure
Capital of the World", Queenstown has something for every
visitor to try. Bungy Jumping, white water rafting, the world
famous Shotover River jet boats, heli-sking, tandem skydiving,
and the Coronet Peak ski fields are some of the many
"adventure" attractions.
Cruising on Lake Wakatipu aboard the vintage steamship TSS
Earnslaw is a very popular tourist activity.
Queenstown is well known for its brilliant nightlife, with its
casino and many restaurants and bars.
However it was the magnificent scenery of Queenstown and its wonderful walking tracks that were the original attraction of tourists to this area and today many people still come to walk on the famous tracks like the Milford, the Routeburn and the Hollyford Tracks.
