Nelson
Nelson has one of the best climates in New Zealand with more sunshine than any other region. Its golden sandy beaches attract many holidaymakers both local and overseas tourists.
The climate suits horticulture and the region is one of the counties largest producers of apples and pears. Recently several wineries have been started and their wines are already receiving acclaim from around the world. Most of the wineries are open to visitors and many have cafes attached. The climate has also attracted many different crafts people such as artists, glassblowers, potters, and weavers.
There are over 40 walks located within 16km of Nelson ranging from easy bush exploration to week-long trips into the Abel Tasman National Park and the Nelson Lakes National Park. Day cruises are also available into the Abel Tasman National Park.
