Franz Joseph and Fox Glaciers

Franz Joseph and Fox Glaciers, which are only half an hour away from each other, are the most accessible glaciers in the world. Franz Joseph is the more spectacular of the two and descends steeply for 12 kilometers to a point only 300 meters (1000 feet) above sea level. Both glaciers are still very active and continue to advance at a fast rate.

Visitors can enjoy a guided walk onto the glacier or take an exciting helicopter sightseeing trip over the area.
